BROOKLYN’S BEST!

I went to the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg the other night to see my dear friends from ZAZA play yet another wonderful show!  If you don’t know them you need to.  They’ve been my band of choice since I saw them play last summer and their dreamy epic sound grabbed me by the gut. They are about to go on tour thru Europe opening for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I can guarantee a feast for the ears.  They eyes won’t do so bad either.

Their opening band was Light Asylum.  I’d never heard them before but let’s just say I had chills the entire time.  The duo produced a wall of sound and energy on stage that made me feel like I was in early 80’s New York.  The lead singer Shannon had an electrifying presence and dropped even the snobbiest of Brooklyn jaws to the ground with her raw emotion and otherworldly voice.

Both bands are pretty difficult for me to explain and god knows I hate having to catagorize music.  Just check them out and if you can, see them live.  It’s a beautiful experience.
